Position SummaryThe Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that our products meet the required quality standards and specifications. They will assist in the creation of standards, working with our suppliers and internal production.
Essential Functions Of The Job
- Assist in the development and implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Determine measurable quality improvement plans.
- Perform and lead audits of supplier quality and ensure conformance to standards.
- Assist in development and tracking of Quality Metrics for all manufacturing procedures.
- Assist in inspections and audits of completed product.
- Develop NCM process and feedback to suppliers including assisting in supplier scorecard.
- Work with Design Engineering to assure correct specifications are applied.
- Work with Product Service to determine RCCA and drive improvement whether supplier or internal workmanship issues.
- Review engineering drawings for identification of key characteristics and critical items.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Reading and interpreting technical documents.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the organizations production processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to serve as a liaison with Managers, Customer Service and suppliers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and competency with Six Sigma concepts and tools, Blueprint reading, GD&T, Problem solving tools (8D), PFMEA, PPAP, measurement tools and systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant field
- 5 -- 10 years as a Quality Engineer or similar role
- Hands on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies.
- Excellent understanding of technical documentation.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and reporting.
- Great attention to detail and problem solving skills.
- ASQ or other related certifications a plus.
Occasional travel to customer offices, shops, and worksites. Travel typically less than 5%.
