The Position

South Central Behavioral Services (SCBS) currently has an opening for a part-time Peer Support Specialist in our CCBHC program. A Peer Support Specialist is someone who has substance use and/or mental health lived experience and is in recovery. The ideal candidate would participate in the crisis program by providing informal peer support and outreach, work with members of the treatment team to enhance the service, and become certified in Wellness and Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Wellness Health and Action Management (WHAM) and/or Smart Recovery and provide groups based on these evidenced based practices. You would participate in treatment team meetings to discuss and address the ongoing needs of the clients and are also responsible for completing daily documentation in our electronic health record. The starting hourly range for this position is $14-$16 per hour. Starting wage is contingent upon education and experience. A history of lived experience as a mental health and/or substance use consumer in recovery for a minimum of one year is required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in human services is preferred, but we will consider individuals with experience in the field. Valid Nebraska driver’s license is required.
