RISE Partnership is Hiring a Remote Staff Learning and Equity Director

Organizational Overview

Collaborating with unions, responsible employers, and government - RISE Partnership supports caregivers and public-service employees by developing unique and equitable workforce solutions, including education, benefits navigation, recruitment, and career development. Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, The Staff Learning and Equity Director is responsible for supporting the organizational development of RISE and will focus principally on two key areas:

  • Develop content and experiences that support staff learning – such as trainings, facilitated discussions, mentorship – and a system to sustainably deliver these supports; and
  • Center RISE’s equity work by helping program teams ensure that all worker-facing training and benefits are developed and implemented with equity and inclusion at their core, and by making DEIJ a critical component of the staff learning experience above.


Essential Functions

  • Staff Learning
    • Develop a comprehensive, creative, and engaging staff development program, with a heavy focus on manager/leadership skills development;
    • Deliver trainings both by leading training and discussions as well as identifying internal and outside trainers/facilitators;
    • Support manager success through individual and group coaching;
    • Develop common-core training, including responding to world or local events or as common learning gaps are identified;
    • Design a process for gathering participant feedback and evaluating success;
    • Partner with our HR and Training Services teams to leverage their knowledge and skills for staff learning;
    • Utilize our HRIS learning management function or other tools to track staff participation, completion;
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
    • Develop a DEI roadmap for RISE that includes staff participation and support and synthesizes best practices and learnings from across the organization;
    • Guide adoption and implementation of DEI standards or guidelines for common programmatic choices (e.g. translation), including by working with staff teams and boards of trustees;
    • Support Directors and teams in developing strategic and project plans that consider DEI from the get-go;
    • In collaboration with HR, analyze and monitor metrics related to staff hiring, retention, promotion, and departures;
    • Work closely with, and make recommendations to, the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to ensure RISE’s leaders foster an equitable and inclusive work environment;
  • Model our organizational values and norms to identify ways to socialize them, such as embedding them in deliverables and presentations.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • 3 years of experience effective staff-management;
  • 3 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering content for a variety of audiences and skill levels;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness leading DEI within an organization, including getting people to connect across racial, class, and cultural differences;
  • Excellent training, discussion, and meeting facilitation skills;
  • Track record of having difficult, effective conversations at all levels of the organization;
  • Proven experience of working with stakeholders to elicit and prioritize their needs and translate them into effective learning opportunities;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening;
  • Functions with a high level of integrity, transparency, and ability to give and receive feedback;
  • Strong emotional intelligence and a commitment to their own growth and development—and of others;
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills, especially within Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Preferred but not required:
    • Experience leading stakeholder committees;
    • Experience working with union staff;
    • DEI or Organizational Development certification.

Working Conditions

  • Requires very limited physical exertion
  • Readiness to work occasional long hours, weekends
  • Able to travel between worksites and/or meeting locations within the state

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is a confidential, senior management position that will engage in personnel matters. This position is not immediately responsible for supervising other staff members.
