POSITION: Instructional Coach/Testing CoordinatorREPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction/Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-month
Job DescriptionAn instructional coach works to support teachers to implement content standards using best instructional practices. Additionally, they improve student achievement through coaching and supporting data driven instruction. An instructional coach has exceptional interpersonal skills, knowledge of pedagogy and content to assist teachers’ classroom practices in all subject areas. In addition to the coaching duties, this position will also serve as the testing coordinator.
Qualifications
Certificates & LicensesMust have a Bachelor’s degree, hold, and maintain a NC teaching license in any of the following areas: Elementary, Middle Grades, or High School education.

- Program Planning and Management
- Responsible for the organization, implementation, verification, collection, and distribution of materials for all assessment.
- Adheres to testing procedures and deadlines.
- Maintains databases and files as assigned by the Principal and District Testing Coordinator.
- Assists in the correction of coding errors as needed.
- Instruction/Program Delivery
- Responsible for the organization and training of all assessments.
- Professional Knowledge
- Assists with investigating and preparing reports for reported test irregularities.
- Serves as a resource person to campus principals and teachers to meet the instructional needs of students.
- Interprets testing procedures and regulations for campus personnel.
- Attends all assessment training as directed by the Principal and Director of Testing.
- Assessment
- Disaggregates, analyzes, disseminates, and prepares reports for testing data upon request.
- Responsible for campus testing documentation compliance.
- Responsible for the integrity and security of all assessments.
- Implements all policies and procedures for the statewide assessment as directed by the Test Coordinator’s Manual, the Test Administration Manual and Richmond County School’s testing policy.
- Adheres to all state policies regarding the reporting of security breaches and/or infractions.
- Assures the security of all testing documents.
- Adheres to all established timelines.
- Assures the accurate completion of all testing documents.
- Collaborate and support all PLC groups in the school with effective structure, curriculum documents and resources.
- Increase knowledge of content standards and pedagogy through focused and planned study of standards and their expectations.
- Focus on classroom practices through examination of student work samples and common assessments, and various other data points.
- Work with teachers to build community and create an environment that supports risk-taking and willingness to share practices.
- Build capacity and empower teachers to become more proficient in creating lessons that include active engagement strategies and system initiatives.
- Guide teachers in understanding and using student data to inform instruction.
- Use a variety of data sources to inform discussions regarding student achievement.
- Gather and interpret individual and school-wide data to inform coaching decisions.
- Support teachers with differentiating instruction based on formative and summative assessment data.
- Support teachers in creating assessments to align to standards and system pacing.
- Develop and provide instructional resources based on data analysis.
- Administer and utilize a variety of assessments to include NC check-ins, MClass, and K-12 Math Assessments.
- Seek professional growth activities to gain skills and knowledge of best practices aligned to the NC Standard Course of Study.
- Design, implement, and evaluate school and district professional development to build capacity and empower teachers.
- Support and lead differentiated school-based and district professional development to support instruction and increase achievement.
- Meet regularly with principal and curriculum directors to clearly communicate work and collaborate about needs observed in schools.
- Support implementation of district initiatives to ensure all classroom teachers are implementing the initiative at a quality level.
- Provide feedback and support to teachers regarding implementation of best practices.
- Maintain exemplary attendance, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the instructional coach position as assigned by supervisor.
