Upper School Biology Teacher

Randolph School is seeking an innovative teacher within our Upper School Division (grades 9-12). Applicants should bring experience teaching science including hands-on laboratory work. In addition to teaching, the position includes advising individual students and assisting with science competitions, such as Science Bowl and Science Olympiad.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

· Identify and respond to each individual students’ learning needs and create enrichment opportunities; implement instructional strategies that contribute to meaningful learning experiences for all learners

· Work with colleagues and administrators to address the needs of the whole child

  • Integrate the teaching of effective organization and study skills
  • Use our Learning Management System to communicate and organize assignments
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication (parent conferences, written correspondence including narrative reports)
  • Effectively monitor and manage student learning using a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress
  • Create a supportive and inclusive environment and develop respectful relationships with students by using conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques within the classroom
  • Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning through active participation in professional growth activities
  • Maintain an effective, safe, and well-organized classroom
  • Integrate technology appropriately in the classroom

Qualifications:

· B.A. in science required

· Two to three years of experience in teaching Biology, AP Biology preferred

· Master’s degree in science preferred

· Independent college preparatory school experience preferred

· Additional experience in Chemistry will be considered

· Student-centered, collaborative, approachable, passionate about history and current events

Interest and ability to contribute to our athletics and extracurricular programs is an additional consideration.
