SafeHouse Denver is Hiring a Part-Time Domestic Violence Advocate Near Denver, CO

SafeHouse Denver has been around for 47 years, and we are on a mission to improve the lives of domestic violence survivors. We are committed to providing survivors with a safe space, where they are believed, supported, and trusted. We are currently looking for a Part-Time Domestic Violence Advocate to provide intake support to survivors seeking our advocacy-based counseling services for intimate partner abuse. The Advocate will be located at SafeHouse Denver’s Counseling & Advocacy Center. The Part-Time Domestic Violence Advocate is responsible for providing advocacy-based counseling services to survivors of intimate partner abuse. The Advocate will carry a caseload of counseling clients and must be able to respond appropriately to a diverse range of survivors healing from trauma. What
  • Provide advocacy-based domestic violence counseling
    • Conduct initial intake and safety assessment
    • Provide emotional support utilizing various counseling techniques
    • Provide psychoeducation on the dynamics of domestic violence and trauma
    • Assist clients in identifying options and achieving goals.
    • Plan and facilitate psychoeducational, prevention and/or support groups for clients on-site and high-risk individuals in the community.
    • Respond to callers who access the SafeHouse Denver crisis line via telephone

  • Conduct crisis intervention and safety planning
  • Provide information, education, and emotional support
  • Participate in all required staff meetings and supervision
  • Demonstrate initiative and vision for service quality improvement and problem prevention and resolution.
  • Work diligently to achieve individual, team, and agency goals and objectives.
  • Network with other service providers and community agencies to assist clients and the agency.
  • Maintain accurate and timely record keeping.
  • Responsible for appropriate charting and all necessary documentation.
  • Complete required and time sensitive data collection and entry
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field 2 years of experience working in a counseling setting.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; superior time management and organizational skillsMaster’s degree in social work, psychology, or related fieldAttentive, responsive, and proactive; ability to pivot as necessary to meet the needs of survivors. Outstanding interpersonal skills Detail oriented with strong technical aptitude; advanced proficiency in utilizing MS Office Ability to work in a diverse environment Passion for the SafeHouse Denver mission A solid understanding of how people and organizations change and the ability to be adaptable.Strong working knowledge of domestic violence and empowerment models; crisis intervention and advocacy skills Bilingual SpanishAbility to function independently
