Position: Medical Assistant- Urgent Care
Hours: Part Time Monday 5pm-8pm, Wednesday 5pm-8p,, Thursday 5pm-8pm
Location: Rogers-Urgent Care
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Job Performs preliminary patient examination such as taking vital, verifying medications and allergies and documenting them. Educates the patient about the visit.
· Assists in the orientation and ongoing training of staff.
· Responsible to prepare schedules and maintain appropriate staffing levels in the all urgent care departments on a 24-hour basis according to administrative requirements.
· Performs various telephone duties such as informing patients of test results, and relaying information and messages, so that communication between clinic and patient is clear and concise.
· Documents all pertinent information in the patient’s chart so that the history is up to date and accurate.
· Determines the appropriate steps to take in an emergency situation, whether it be on the phone or in the clinic.
· Assists providers with procedures as required by the provider.
· Assists and backs up the Family Practice Medical Support Staff.
· Administers immunizations and medication by provider orders.
· Cleans and stocks patient examination rooms, sterilizes and maintains equipment and supplies so they are available as needed. Ensures that spoiled linens, containers, and potential infectious waste are appropriately disposed of according to the infectious control guidelines.
· Maintains confidentiality by keeping all patient and medical information seen and heard in the strictest confidence.
· May perform basic essential in-house lab work.
Qualifications:
· Must be an MA, CMA, or LPN with current state certification and or license.
· Previous scheduling experience preferred.
· Must also demonstrate a sense of understanding and urgency for priorities.
· Ability for being on-call after hours and weekends to handle incoming calls on scheduling issues that may arise such as call-offs.
· Have knowledge of electronic medical records.
· Excellent teamwork abilities
· Ability to travel between three sites locally.
