Michigan Turkey Producers is Hiring a Truck Driver Short Haul Near Grand Rapids, MI
This is a “hands on” non-production operation role.
- Meeting Company standards, and under the supervision of the Logistics Foreman, the essential functions of this role are to drive a company owned semi (tractor-trailer) truck, to deliver products to MTP in a timely and courteous manner.
- Must maintain an up-to-date log and inspection booklet per Department of Transportation (DOT) and MTP.
- Shuttle product to and from both facilities.
- Must inspect vehicle equipment for safety compliance as required by DOT, and complete a daily tractor-trailer inspection sheet.
- Must verify load for documentation accuracy and weight restrictions as required by DOT.
- Must perform “odd jobs” during slow time (dock work, etc.).
- Must maintain the cleanliness of the tractor and trailer (both inside and outside).
- Must be able to represent MTP’s values by being courteous to customers, and also by demonstrating safe driving skills and practices.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to perform functions and instructions with minimal direct supervision.
- Must be committed to quality and safety.
- Must be able to perform other tasks as assigned.
- Ability to meet working times up to 12 hours including overtime and Weekends.
- Must have at least one year Tractor-Trailer driving experience.
- Must have a current valid Michigan CDL Class a Driver’s License.
- Must have a current clean driving record in accordance with the Michigan Turkey Producers’ Fleet Safety Manual and the DOT.
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug and alcohol screening tests.
- Must obey and be in compliance with local and DOT rules and regulations.
- Must have excellent attendance and follow MTP policy for time and attendance.
- Must have good understanding truck, reefer knowledge of operation.
- Must obtain a forklift certification within 30 days of assuming position.
- Ability to use MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
