Status: Non-Exempt, Full-time

Weekday Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • $20 - $25 per hour DOE

This position both challenging and rewarding!

In this position, you will be rolling up your sleeves and working with the students in a hands-on training and teaching environment. Utilizing your own training and expertise in your previous craft, such as soldering, welding, blacksmithing, and/or metal, you will transfer these skills into lesson plans to teach and train students for their ongoing developmental learning and growth.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare curriculum and lesson plans for daily instruction with a developmental progression
  • Assess Client abilities, connect them with projects and lessons that support them to develop their skills and track their progress through the progression
  • Record daily data from the field based on Client goals and objectives
  • Develop individualized plans with Clients as needed
  • Maintain Meristem’s cultural norms and be active in shaping a positive culture
  • Maintain and manage the space and materials of the classrooms used
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and staff check-in
  • Participate in staff training and practicing the Meristem method to the best of your ability.
  • Develop a professional growth plan with your immediate supervisor
  • Engage with parents as asked.
  • Build and manage budgets around material needs for your classes
  • Support the onboarding process of new Clients and staff
  • Actively familiarize and engage with the materials from the key founding bodies of work that the meristem program is built on.
  • Engage in collaborative educational offerings with colleagues
  • Engage the highest level of your skills as an employee
  • Teach other program-specific content when asked
  • Implement program-oriented approaches
  • Participate in Client substitutions when members of the team are out
  • Perform other duties as asked and directed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent work experience 
  • Experience working in education
  • Experience working with a comparable Client population to Meristem or similar experience 
  • Familiarity with either Transformative movement education, Ruskin Mill therapeutic craft education or Waldorf education.
Physical Demands: 
  • The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to move in uneven terrain on our campus as needed to capture content.
  • The ability to sit at a desk, answer the phone, and use the computer for up to 8 hours a day.
Experience in any of these areas is a plus:
  • Lived experience with or interest in a participant population similar to Meristem (neurodiverse/autistic).
  • Interest in or familiarity with Waldorf education principles and approaches.
