Description

We’re looking for an exceptional leader who can provide supervision, fun, safety, and administration to a Leaders in Training Teen Day Camp with approximately 30 campers (each day) and 10 staff. 

POSITION INFORMATION:

· Camp runs July 8th—August 2nd, 9:00 am-4:00 pm at the YMCA’s downtown Rec and Resource Center

· Director will work 35-40 hrs per week from June 3 -August 13 (we’ll work with a school calendar for the right candidate).

· Responsibilities include scheduling staff, organizing each camp day, communicating with parents, helping counselors engage with campers, troubleshooting issues that arise, organizing field trips, ensuring the safety of campers

· Camp will focus on building leadership skills with youth and guiding youth to plan and implement a service-learning project.

· Director will work up to 2 weeks/ 40 hours before camp to help prepare site and plan schedules in the month of June and early July

Requirements

Physical Requirements:  Incumbent must be able to move freely and quickly throughout the camp area; move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces; participate in typical children's games; watch and listen to the activities of a group of children; communicate effectively with people; bend and lift; and lift up to 25 pounds.

Other Requirements: Prior experience engaging large groups of children either as a teacher or prior camp director / leader. Prefer 4 year degree related to education or youth development. CPR & First aid must be obtained prior to start of camp.
