KLH Engineers is Hiring a Fire Protection Co-op - Summer 2024 Near Fort Thomas, KY

I. Summary
Fire Protection co-op students are considered to be an integral part of the engineering staff and are provided with tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. Under guidance of the engineering staff, the students will be assigned to teams associated with ongoing production and design projects. This position is short term and hourly (typically 40 hours per week). It is encouraged that the student returns for multiple co-op terms.
II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Core Function
  • Support of engineering and design needs for ongoing projects in design or in the field.
General
  • On time and dependable.
  • Completes tasks thoroughly and on time.
  • Able to keep accurate records of billable time.
  • Able to submit timesheets in timely manner.
  • Able to use and understand office equipment technology such as phones, copiers, plotters, scanners and computers.
  • Able to use Windows and Microsoft office programs (excel, word, etc.)
  • Able to work in team environment.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Understand and follows company structure.
  • Understands and follows department standards and procedures.
Activities
  • Able to perform basic fire protection drafting with minimal direction.
  • Able to create and print drawings.
  • Able to draft fire protection based on comments and markups.
  • Able to draft and digitize fire protection existing conditions.
  • Able to draft, digitize, and convert fire protection field notes to CAD.
  • Provide lessons learned feedback.
  • Identify training topics.
  • Assist with fire protection document template management.

V. Qualifications
Education
Student candidate must be attending technical college for an associate’s degree or
Attending a 4 year college for a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Minimum GPA of 2.8
Experience
Any previous consulting engineering or construction field experience is desired.
Communication Skills
Verbal – Speaks clearly, listens attentively
Written – Writes clearly
Computer Skills
Basic computing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit is desired
