Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to independently or as a member of a professional team travel to conduct surveys, investigations and monitoring visits of long-term care facilities and hospitals to determine compliance with State Licensure requirements and/or Federal Medicare/Medicaid certification regulations. Serves as technical expert and independently performs difficult and complex institutional health and safety surveys. Serves as preceptor for lower-level surveyors.
Job Responsibilities
1. Travels as part of the survey team to conduct difficult and complex on-site institutional health and safety surveys of hospitals and nursing homes to assure compliance with the Nursing Home Care Act, Title XIX (Medicaid) and XVIII (Medicare) of the Social Security Act and Hospital Licensing Act.
2. Serves as preceptor to new hires and existing institutional health and safety survey staff regarding training and orientation.
3. As a member of the survey team, travels to perform difficult and complex institutional health and safety surveys to assure compliance with applicable rules and regulations at long term care facilities and hospitals.
4. Reviews and evaluates survey and investigation reports of lower-level surveyors and lower level sanitarians for technical accuracy and compliance with applicable directives, policies and guidelines.
5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
