BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:The M GK OPERATIONS - KAHULUI Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)
JOB FUNCTION:Trains to perform the duties of Senior Operator Helper at the steam plant. Performs general maintenance work as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Mans a shift with a Senior Operator Helper or Junior Boiler Operator at the steam plant and trains to perform the duties of these classifications.
• Is assigned operational maintenance work at the steam plant.
• May perform in relief capacity, standing watch as Sr. Operator Helper when qualified.
• Keeps equipment and work area clean.
• Maintains watch until relieved.
• Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
• Helps on overhauls when available.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.
• Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
• T26: Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).

Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.

• T26: Must pass the Job Sample Test.
