Job Title: External Auditor
Department: Compliance/Collections Department
Glasser and Glasser, P.L.C., a well-respected law firm based in downtown Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking to add a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team! The External Auditor position is responsible for facilitating, maintaining and managing all required activities related to external audit requirements for the Firm. This position works together with the firm’s Special Handling and Compliance Teams and interacts with client auditors and performance managers. This position is responsible for learning client and legal requirements and working with the firm’s Compliance and Operations Team to craft related process improvements.
External Auditors are specialists who review the firm’s processes to ensure they comply with law and client requirements. External Auditors also act in an advisory role to recommend process improvements to decrease risk and improve efficiency.
Candidate qualifications:
· Strong writing and verbal skills, including good presentation and report writing skills
· Hardworking with great attention to detail
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent organizational skills
· Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Word and Excel
· Multiple years of Collections knowledge is preferred
· Must have audit experience
· Understanding of FDCPA is preferred
· Self-motivated individual, determination and confidence
· Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
The duties/expectations of the External Auditor include:
· Serves as a main point of contact within the firm for client audits, including responding to client audit requests and keeping clients and firm staff members informed of audit progress
· Assists with audit remediation
· Researches, prepares, analyzes, and gathers company data for various clients.
· Learn the company’s processes and internal controls, and inspect the company’s policies, procedures, and records, to ensure compliance with law and client requirements
· Interacts with staff throughout the firm to best understand the firm’s processes and ensure they are meeting client’s standards.
· Identifies which firm processes are not working as they should or can be improved, and provides suggestions of changes to be made
· Prepares reports, comments and statements for firm clients and internal managers
· Interfaces with managers and presents findings and recommendations on how to improve firm policies and procedures
· Ensures company policies and procedures comply with client requirements and applicable law
· Other compliance related duties may be assigned
External auditors typically office hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. They may need to work extra hours or during the weekend to meet deadlines, particularly during a client audit deadline.
