NOW HIRING: Nerf Arena Game Master

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Friends and families of all ages can plan a party or walk-in and have a blast flinging foam darts to their heart's content. Gotcha is a fantastic 14,000 square foot nerf blaster facility in the Auburn Mall. Gotcha offers not one, but two separate themed arenas. A perilous undersea environment, complete with a sunken pirate ship, coral reefs and a suspicious octopus lurking in the waves overhead! The other, a lunar base that’s home to an asteroid roaming rover, space pods, rockets and a bunker set into moon rocks!

POSITION: Game Master

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Game Master to join our team. On a busy weekend, Gotcha has 50 guests at a time from ages 5 to 105 running around flinging foam darts at each other. On occasion one of our team members grabs a mic and initiates a structured game of capture the flag or freeze tag. Our team is also usually busy checking guests in, getting guests Nerf blasters, cleaning, providing great customer service and making sure everyone is following the arena rules.

Game Master would be a completely new role and challenge at Gotcha separate from the normal tasks. As a Game Master, your primary function would be using a microphone and organizing games for guests of all ages. We have a list off games to start with, but a Game Master will be responsible for developing a system that works for them.

Skills:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
-Public speaking: Confidence in speaking publicly and delivering clear instructions or announcements
- Conflict management: Skill in resolving conflicts or issues that may arise during gameplay
- Guest services: Strong focus on providing exceptional guest experiences
- Experience with children: Ability to interact with children of various ages in a positive and engaging manner

Schedule: Weekends

To start the Game Master will be scheduled for 2-3 hour shifts during peak weekend times. More shifts or special events may be added in the future depending on supply and demand.

Challenges:

There are a number of challenges. Gotcha has multiple parties and walk-ins entering and exiting our Nerf arena at different times. There could be a group of elementary age kids, a couple teenagers and a couple families playing together. This requires constantly adapting and evolving to fit the audience. Nerf is more subjective and simple than something like laser tag. We love Nerf because it's fun and easy to see what is happening, but there is no light that goes off when someone gets tagged so everyone is on the honor system.

Gotcha is planning to implement electronic targets that will help provide additional objectives beyond tagging another player. This will be a challenge that the Game Master will be expected to help develop. The Game Master will not be given a manual on how it should be done.
