PURPOSE:

In order to ensure thisphilosophy for the future, this position is responsible for total function,direction, and supervision of all dietary services.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:

  • Plan, coordinate, document, and superviseresident nutritional care
  • Develop, implement, and maintain dietary serviceobjectives, policies, and procedures
  • Foster positive communication within the dietarydepartment and the organization as a whole
  • Promote organizations’ team concept, interpretphilosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the organization to dietarypersonnel
  • Decide and perform all duties in accordance withorganization’s policies/procedures, state and federal regulations and inconformance with recognized standards
  • Ensure compliance of dietary department withstate/federal regulations
  • Evaluate the resident’s nutritional status
  • Aware of resident nutritional needs throughobservation, participation in care planning, resident/family input
  • Recruit and hire qualified dietary personnelnecessary to meet or exceed the needs of the residents and facility
  • Supervise scheduling of staff/staff assignments,ensure fair and consistent treatment of all staff
  • Continually monitor and evaluate staff
  • Investigate and initiate incidents ofdiscipline/corrective action (including discharge), if necessary, according toestablished personnel procedures
  • Accessible to staff on all shifts
  • Plan annual dietary budget and/or works withinapproved budget; supervise and approve all dietary purchases
  • Recognize and meet needs of the residents,families, and standards
  • Maintain and safeguard confidential information
  • Communicate effectively with residents,families, co-workers, and public
  • Function independently in situations thatrequire professional judgement
  • Participate in Quality Assurance/ImprovementPlan

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent twisting, occasional bending
  • Reaches at shoulder height frequently, reachesabove or below shoulder height occasionally
  • Lifts and carries less than 25lbs
  • 70% of work day is spent sitting; 20% walking,10% standing
  • Adapts to frequent interruptions/changingsituations
  • Must be able to communicate orally and/or inwriting with residents, co-workers, families, public

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certified Dietary Manager
  • Supervisory experience in a long term caresetting preferred
  • Follows/adheres to organization, federal, andstate regulations and guidelines, including Resident/Client rights
  • Maintains neat, well-groomed appearance,adhering to dress code of organization/program
