The Emerson Waldorf School seeks a part-time Handwork Assistant to join our dedicated Grade School (1-8) faculty for the 24-25 school year. The ideal candidate will have a background in fiber arts and knowledge of child development, strong knowledge of knitting, crochet, hand sewing, embroidery, weaving, spinning, and dyeing, a familiarity with Waldorf education, a commitment to and experience in working with children between the ages of 6–12.. The assistant will be scheduled to be present in the grade school at different times throughout the day, several days a week. Some responsibilities include;
Working with small groups of students
Offering one-on-one instructional support to students as needed
Helping ensure that students are on task and successfully completing assignments
Helping reinforce and clarify instructions to students
Supporting the social/emotional needs of students
This candidate is organized and self-motivated and connects easily with grade school-aged children.
This is a part-time, hourly position. The job is several days a week from mid-August to mid-June.
