We are looking for a Homeownership Specialist to join our team!

Downstreet is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Homeownership Specialist to coordinate and implement our homeownership counseling programs. This person will help low- and middle-income homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership in Central Vermont.

Key Responsibilities

 Manage calls and inquiries from customers inquiring into homeownership services.

 Perform client intake with customers; provide one-on-one pre-purchase counseling services to include follow up, client file notes and file closeout.

 Manage homebuyer education workshops, both in person and through eHome America.

 Provide foreclosure counseling as needed, meet with clients, assist clients in completing loss mitigation documents, and conduct outreach to loan servicer as needed.

 Process Shared Equity Applications for eligibility and manage new purchases and resales of our current Shared Equity portfolio from initial application through purchase closing.

 Provide ongoing support to Shared Equity homeowners to include monthly and annual communication.

 Obtain and maintain certifications as required to include but not limited to HUD Certification and NeighborWorks NCHEC Certifications.

 Build and maintain accurate, confidential and complete client files including electronic and paper files.

 Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

 2 years of experience in mortgage lending, financial counseling/coaching or an equivalent combination of education, employment, and life experience

 Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn relevant software

 Highly organized with a strong ability to manage priorities and deadlines and ability to manage confidential information

 Strong written and verbal communication skills, active listening skill and problem-solving abilities

 Commitment to equity and inclusion and social and economic justice

 Valid Vermont Driver’s License and personal vehicle

Physical Requirements

 Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer

 Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time

Salary: $48,000 - $55,000 per year

Hybrid remote/office work schedule available, after introductory period
