OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION 

The Creative Apprentice role at DH offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in graphic design, grow your career, and contribute to a variety of client projects and DH initiatives. You'll support creative workflow and design projects for clients ranging from public health campaigns to corporate branding. Working closely with DH teams, you'll engage in activities aimed at making a social impact within communities across our state and beyond. 

As an apprentice, you'll assist with design tasks including creating graphics, editing visual content, conducting research, and coordinating with vendors, ensuring exceptional client/customer service. Given the diverse range of audiences and communities we support, an awareness of social justice and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) dynamics is crucial. Join our dynamic apprenticeship program and immerse yourself in the industry with a 20-30 hour per week commitment over six months, setting a strong foundation for your career success. Lived cultural experiences are highly valued for the social impact work we do. A basic understanding of design principles and digital tools is essential, and a positive attitude will be your key to thriving in this role.

• Understand and promote health equity, social justice and DEI concepts 
• Work well independently and with a team 
• Strong attention to detail, and focus on quality deliverables 
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills 
• Strong creative 
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Software’s (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD) 
• Basic understanding and ability to learn digital/social platforms 
• Database management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Power Point, Word, Excel and MS Outlook) 
• Strong administrative skills and basic understanding of office systems (IT, facilities, etc.) 
• Basic understanding and ability to learn digital/social platforms 
• Demonstrates commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) principles. 
• Multilingual abilities are a plus.
