About The RoleWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Electrical Construction to lead our business development efforts and oversee the success of our Electrical Construction department. This role requires a blend of strategic vision, leadership, and technical expertise in the electrical contracting industry.
What You'll Do
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the electrical construction industry.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring client satisfaction and loyalty.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
- Represent CS Erickson at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote our services and expand our network.
- Communicate effectively with clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and resolving any issues that arise during projects.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to understand project requirements and scope.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop strategies for expanding the department's client base.
- Ability to accurately assess the estimates of other team members, using conceptual benchmarks and previous industry knowledge to mitigate financial risk of future awarded projects.
- Full understanding of project material procurement and vendor negotiation best practices to support business unit success and project manager support.
- Strong fluency in construction contract language and comfortability in negotiating on behalf of CS Erickson.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Electrical Construction department, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Oversee budgets for construction projects, monitoring costs, profitability, and resource utilization.
- Stay informed about electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry standards to ensure projects are executed in compliance with legal requirements.
- Prepare regular reports on project progress, financial performance, safety metrics, and key performance indicators for senior management.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical contracting industry, with a proven track record of success in business development and department management.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a proactive and results-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing electrical construction projects.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in software and tools (e.g., Accubid, McCormick, Bluebeam, Procore, Plangird), preferred.
- Maneuvering on uneven ground
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 35lbs
