Job Purpose and Overview

The Strategic Sourcing Manager I will work under general supervision negotiating & managing contracts, creating strategies to leverage opportunities while managing risks to optimize results to benefit Dawn Food Products.

This is a hybrid position with the requirement to be on-site at our Jackson, MI home office for a minimum of 3 days per month with potential travel of up to 25%.

What You'll Do as a Strategic Sourcing Manager IDawn Foods?

• Under general supervision negotiates and manages contracts following policies and procedures, manages risk, and initiates strategies to drive productivity, quality, and service.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Packaging Engineering, Research & Development, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement Finance, Manufacturing Finance, Marketing & Commercial Teams)
• Creates strategies and can modify them quickly to take advantage of opportunities and manage risks. Communicate in all forms and construct presentations for review with Senior Management
• Understanding underlying commodity market driving factors in the Energy/Utilities (Natural Gas, Electric, Diesel) and Packaging (Plastic Resins, metal & glass packaging, and pulp & paper) markets is a plus.
• Partner with Packaging Engineering and Corporate Responsibility/ESG teams to coordinate supplier sustainability efforts with recyclability, reuse, and reduction of packaging substrates
• Manage complex problems and offer compelling solutions based on facts
• Serves as the internal and external expert for the Procurement function for their categories
• Optimize team and personal results via appropriate prioritization
• Create, manage, and stimulate the creative process of others to deliver new solutions; Construct compelling strategic opportunities.
• Optimize team and personal results via appropriate prioritization.

What Does It Take to be aStrategic Sourcing Manager I at Dawn Foods?

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• A bachelor's degree in Packaging or Packaging & Technology, Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field, with 3 years of related work experience, or 7 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Preferred experience of managing a portfolio of Packaging and Energy/Utilities
• Potential to expand portfolio scope into other related areas.
• Skillful understanding of related derivative markets
• Process-orientated facilitator of full Strategic Sourcing bid & negotiation process (RFI, RFQ, & award)
• Strong negotiation, strategic thinking, and communications skills; Ability to work cross-functionally with various departments.
• Knowledge of general supply chain processes, procedures, and inventory management concepts is required. Strong Financial understanding of distribution and manufacturing a plus.
• Proficiency with data extraction using ERP systems.
• Proficiency with EXCEL, ACCESS, PowerPoint, and MS Project; SAP experience preferred.

Compensation Range:

$88,750- $142,000 with bonus incentive
