Columbia Industries is Hiring a Production Manager Near Starkville, MS

Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the production process. This includes burning, welding, painting, and assembly operations. This role ensures that production targets are met efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The Production Manager will lead a team of supervisors and operators, coordinate with other departments, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Management:
  • Plan, organize, and direct production activities to meet daily and weekly production targets.
  • Monitor and manage the production schedule to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Oversee the entire production process, including burning, welding, painting, assembly, materials, and maintenance operations.
  1. Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and lead a team of supervisors, operators, and technicians.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for production staff.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  1. Quality Control:
  • Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications, i.e. – QMS, API, & ISO.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures and protocols.
  • Address and resolve any quality issues promptly.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure all employees are trained in safe work practices.
  1. Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  1. Resource Management:
  • Manage production resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure adequate supply of materials.
  • Optimize resource utilization to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Coordinate with other departments such as engineering, HR, finance, IT and quality assurance.
  • Communicate production status, challenges, and progress to senior management.
  • Lead production meetings and contribute to strategic planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a production management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment involving plasma burning, welding, painting, and assembly processes.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality control systems (API & ISO).
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using production management software and tools.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is required.
  • Strategic thinking and planning capabilities to align production operations with overall business objectives.
  • Analytical skills to interpret production data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to manage changing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Project management skills to oversee large-scale production projections from planning to completion.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions without constant supervision.
  • Takes the initiative from a proactive approach to identify and address production issues before they escalate.
  • High level of self-motivation and a strong work ethic, with a proven track record of driving projects to successful completion.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership of the production process, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and performance.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate team members through personal example, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Certifications (Preferred)

· Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)

· Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)

· Project Management Professional (PMP)

Working Conditions:

· This role is primarily based in a manufacturing environment.

· May require extended hours including weekend work to meet production targets.

  • · Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
