The City of Sunnyside is currently accepting applications to fill multiple positions for the 2024 summer recreation season! Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, qualified applicants will lead youth participants in the 2024 Summer Day Camp program offered by the Recreation Division. The seasonal recreation aides will be responsible for facilitating the program curriculum as presented and modify lessons based on program needs. This position will be approximately 30 - 40 hours per week, and may include weekday, weekend, evening and holiday hours. Interested applicants please apply here.

Job Duties

• Lead youth recreation programs in an efficient manner while displaying effective problem-solving skills.
• Monitor the safety of youth participants and activities.
• Provide leadership, and effective problem-solving skills.
• Display clear communication with participants, peers and guardians in a manner that professionally represents the City of Sunnyside.
• Monitor the safety of youth participants and volunteers.
• Handle minor emergent situations that may arise as per City policy.
• Assist with site operations as outlined in program handbook.
• Complete Reports and file paperwork as needed.
• Open and Close Facility as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• 1 year experience leading or teaching youth programs such as day camp or day care.
• Current 1st Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain by first day of employment.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
