The City of Pewaukee has an opening in our Administration Division for a full-time Director of People & Culture. This position is responsible for the human resources function of the City and ultimately taking care of our most valuable asset, our people. The salary range is $98,779-118,721 annually with a very generous benefits package. This position requires you to be in the office all days of the week; it is not eligible for remote work.

Examples of the duties of this position include – 

• Establish procedures and recommend operating policies for personnel management.
• Establish and maintain personnel records.
• Oversee administration of employee fringe benefit programs including health, dental, life insurance, employee assistance and retirement programs.
• Review employee timecards for accuracy and work with department heads for necessary resolutions, while ensuring time keeping follows City policy. Process bi-weekly payroll, maintain current pay records, record voluntary and involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, as well as prepare and post necessary journal entries. Calculate and maintain utility cost-accounting payroll system to ensure accurate posting in addition to calculating and posting year end accrued payroll.
• Review employee insurance coverages verifying against payroll to ensure correct deductions and complete necessary year end reconciliations.
• Ensure that federal and state personnel laws and regulations are applied and met.
• Ensure the administration of compliance issues including COBRA, FMLA, and HIPPA.
• Coordinate recruitment, interviews, selection, background screening and hiring of new employees. Conduct exit interviews with employees leaving City employment.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's degree in human resources management, or related field and extensive experience working in human resources management with increasing responsibilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience; a valid driver's license in the State of Wisconsin and acceptable driving record. PHR or SPHR or SHRM-CP or SHRMP-SCP preferred.
