Congregation of St. Joseph (LaGrange Park Center, Inc.) The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph is a religious community of nearly 500 vowed Catholic women and over 500 lay associates who live and minister in the U.S. and around the world. Through our Mission Network, we work with and support a diverse array of ministries including three Catholic high schools; tutoring and literacy programs; spirituality centers; social service programs; spiritual direction; and pastoral assistance. We are also involved in and support numerous justice and peace initiatives including antiracism efforts, the abolishment of the death penalty, fair and just immigration policies, nonviolence, especially in regards to gun violence, anti-human trafficking efforts, and care of the environment and Earth.

In light of the CSJ Mission, Charism and Generous Promises, the Food Service Aide is responsible for assisting in all dietary functions including meal prep and set up; washing dishes, pots and pans; and the cleanliness of the Food Service areas.

Essential Functions:

· Ability to follow oral and written directions;

· Correctly prepares, sets up and maintains all menu items for serving table;

· Capable of working alone to maintain a steady work pace to produce an adequate supply of clean kitchen utensils, dishes, pots and pans;

· Demonstrates safety rules in the kitchen and other areas; including correctly operating food service equipment;

· Complies with food service sanitation standards and proper food handling;

· Maintains sanitized and clean work areas in the kitchen, scullery and serving areas;

· Reports equipment malfunctions to manager or supervisor on a timely basis;

· Ensures proper storage, labeling and dating of all food items;

· Rotates stock according to FIFO method;

· Performs all related and miscellaneous functions as assigned and required in the LaGrange Park Center.

Desired Skills & Experience:

· Serv Safe Certification required;

· High school diploma or equivalent;

· Previous experience as a Food Service Aide, preferred;

· Familiar with all aspects of working in the food service department;

· Maintain sanitation standards within the food service areas;

· Ability to work in collaboration with the food service team;

· Possess excellent customer service skills;

· Ability to push, pull and lift objects weighing 50 pounds;

· Ability to stand for long periods of time;

· Ability to bend, stoop or squat;

· Ability to follow job sequence;

· Ability to deal with the stress of the job;

· Good hand/eye coordination in the use of appliances;

· Ability to concentrate on details with some interruptions;

· Ability to make changes in plans to respond to needs of sisters

Working Conditions:

· Work flexible hours including regular weekend rotation and holidays;

· At times, the kitchen can be noisy and extremes in temperature can be experienced;

· Use of sharp instruments and various appliances;

· Exposed to laundry/dishwashing detergents and chemicals.
