The Group Health Financial Analyst / Health Underwriter is responsible for prospect and renewal risk assessment for Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage along with Life and Disability benefits. This position requires analyzing various medical plans, utilizing claims history and demographics, to assess the risk and required rates for prospective and renewal quotes, as well as calculating plan and benefit costs for recommended plan design alternatives. Based on applicant experience, Health Underwriter I, II, or III title with commensurate salary would apply. • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the group health underwriting field required or a background of 10 or more years health group related underwriting and reporting experience required. Degree preferred is major in Mathematics, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Statistics or Business
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe

Skills:

• Must possess solid technical understanding of group health financial risk and plan design evaluation
• Must have excellent planning/organizational abilities, analytical thinking, advanced math skills and intermediate to advanced skill level of spreadsheet applications
• Computer skills and knowledge of business unit applications required
• Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy while being detail oriented
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
