We are currently seeking to employ an experienced Assistant Chef to aid in the preparation of meals for students in a preschool and after school environment from 7am-12pm Monday-Friday.

The Assistant Chef shall be responsible for:
- Assisting in the management of the kitchen for meal services for the entire school
- Utilizing a menu to prepare appetizing and nutritious meals in required amounts for children.
- Must maintain a safe and sanitary work environment
- Assist in and plan food purchases and place orders with appropriate vendors
- Receive and check-in food deliveries; review, sign, and date invoices and provide to the accounting office.
- Assist in planning the menus following the USDA and CACFP nutrition guidelines.
- Document, daily food production records, and maintain accurate and required documents and records. Maintain and submit daily food production reports as required.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of nutrition education activities as well participate as needed with the children.
- Attend and participate in in-service training and other meetings as required.
- Mandatory to exercise patience and collaborate as an effective team player by working well with peers, students and parents.

Required Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent diploma is mandatory.
- Experience cooking full meals in a school kitchen is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of one (2) year paid quantity cooking experience in a school setting is preferred.

Certification:
- Must have a Food Safety/SERV Safe certificate.

Physical Abilities:
- A key requirement is the ability to effectively use kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Ability to move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to move freely around the kitchen and storage areas to perform food preparation which will require frequent walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and prolonged periods of standing. Exposure to hot and cold surfaces. Requires coordination and dexterity in handling kitchen equipment and preparing food.
- Good vision and hearing ability essential in ensuring kitchen safety.
- Assist in ensuring the kitchenware is cleaned sanitarily each day in preparation for the next day's menu.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.50 - $19.00 per hour
