Children's Home of Jefferson County is Hiring a Clinician Near Watertown, NY

DescriptionCHJC is excited to offer a sign on bonus up to $5500 for this position!Summary/ObjectiveSalary range is based on licensure/experienceThe Clinical Therapist is responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical services to clients and their families. This includes the provision of individual, family, group therapies, crisis intervention, advocacy, assessment, planning, discharge planning and interdisciplinary teamwork. Clinical therapists are responsible for formulating and implementing appropriate treatment strategies from clients and their families on their assigned caseload and for timely and satisfactory documentation of all treatment efforts.
Clinical Therapy involves responsibility for providing psychotherapeutic services to patients with behavioral healthcare needs to improve their level of functioning. The duties are performed as part of an interdisciplinary mental health team. The work is performed under the supervision of a senior licensed staff person who provides the incumbent with oversight and guidance in: assessment and evaluation, diagnosing utilizing DSM, collaborative and individualized treatment planning, completing psychosocial histories and progress notes, individual and group psychotherapy and consultation. The incumbent does related work as required.
Essential Functions
  • Performs intakes, interviews new patient to obtain information and identify behavioral healthcare needs, and refers to psychiatric medication management staff if appropriate.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary staff meetings to discuss new cases and formulate treatment plans.
  • Provides psychotherapy to individuals, couples and groups using evidence-based therapeutic methods, to assist patients in treatment mental health symptoms, increasing level of functioning in multiple domains, and achieving more satisfying lives.
  • Makes referrals to a variety of health, social, vocational and educational agencies and facilities to arrange for supportive services for patients.
  • Provides emotional support needed by clients involved in the process of growth or change.
  • Refers patients to psychiatric medication management staff for medication review as needed.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports such as patient treatment plans, case progress notes, referrals, letters and treatment and discharge summaries.
  • Contacts patient’s families and other collaterals to obtain information to assess and monitor patient’s progress and treatment as appropriate.
  • Provide crisis interventions as necessary.
  • Required to have a valid NYS driver’s license and ability to drive legally.
  • Compliance with OMH Article 31 regulation’s “Anchor Elements”
  • Actively develops clinical skills through supervision and CEU trainings
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned.
  • Provide periodic on call responsibilities as part of an ongoing rotation.
  • Required to be able to drive legally in NY State.
Work EnvironmentWorks in a regular office environment, exposure to noise, blood and/or body fluids. Travel involved. Remote work permitted only with Executive Director approval.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of WorkFull-Time and Part-Time schedules are available for this position. Work cannot be completed 100% remotely. Employee is expected to meet all essential functions or standards.
TravelTravel may be required.
RequirementsRequired Education and Experience: Licensure by the New York State Department of Education as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW or LCSW-R) or Licensed Psychologist. (Permit authorized with provided supervision.)
Additional Eligibility QualificationsSuccessful completion of routine pre-employment requirements as mandated by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Mental Health and Office of Children and Family Services along with ongoing clearances and exclusion checks. These requirements are to include employment health requirements, Covid-19 vaccination or exemption, reference checks, criminal background checks/fingerprinting, State Central Registry clearance and your eligibility to work in the United States. Valid NYS driver’s license required.
