City of Sherwood AR is Hiring a PUMP AND INSTRUMENT REPAIR TECH- WASTEWATER Near Sherwood, AR

Responsible for repair and routine maintenance of controls and instruments and all pumps (portable and fixed). Employee will act as Electrical Safety Officer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs routine inspections of pump stations to ensure they are operating normally. Pump station inspections shall include documentation of activities and pump runtime hours.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs on all wastewater pumps (portable and fixed).
  • Replace worn and damaged parts at treatment plant for routine operation and maintenance.
  • Trouble shoots problems with controllers and instruments. Makes recommendation to Supervisor on repairs.
  • Responsible for electrical safety including tag out on any repairs involving electrically charged equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of spare parts for pumps, controls and instruments by effectively communicating needs with the manager or supervisor.
  • Maintains grounds at wastewater pumping stations; clean, mow, and trim.
  • Periodically, usually on weekends, performs basic wastewater treatment plant operations under the direction of lead operator.
  • Operates and repairs equipment such as lawn mower, weed trimmer, edger, pumps, air compressors, electrical controllers and jackhammer.
  • Communicates and works with customers for troubleshooting and public relations.
  • Respond to call back within fifteen minutes and physically on worksite within thirty minutes for on call and emergency sewer calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.

  • Must be available to be on-call for week shifts at a time with other co-workers
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, type and enter data accurately
  • Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others
  • Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public
  • Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; Must obtain a Class I Wastewater Operator license within one year of employment. If ADEQ establishes a Collection System Operators license this license will be required in lieu of Class I Wastewater Operator. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements and preferences listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required and/or preferred. Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position. Knowledgeable in Flygte Pumps; Knowledgeable in electronic instrument repair; Knowledgeable in electrical safety; Instrumentation Technology Associate Degree is a plus.
