Open Position Schedules:

Essential Job Duties:

  • Follow all established PPE (personal protective equipment) policies when handling chemicals and/or cleaning, including wearing gloves, masks, aprons, etc.
  • Follow all established techniques, procedures and policies for properly storing, using and mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used for cleaning, and for the proper disposal of waste.
  • Lock and control all housekeeping supplies and carts making sure that chemicals and/or hazardous materials are not left unattended or accessible to residents and visitors.
  • Supervise Housekeepers, Laundry assistants, and Custodians as required.
  • Comply with Carefield policies and regulations to encourage safe and efficient community operations.
  • Display a positive and professional image through actions and maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
  • Responsible for ordering necessary supplies for housekeeping and laundry.
  • Clean resident apartments to include (but not limited to): furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, bathtubs, toilets, showers, sinks, windows/mirrors, blinds, shutters, etc. sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, disinfecting, washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning surfaces using proper cleaning and disinfecting solutions, and discard waste/trash into proper receptable liners, etc.
  • Responsible for all laundry as required to include (but not limited to); ensuring resident laundry and linens are washed, dried, folded, and returned according to community processes and policies; cleaning of machine filters and reporting maintenance concerns to supervisor; and maintain area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Responsible to ensure common areas and offices as required to ensure the building is clean at all
  • Ensure that all appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up and posted prior to performing duties that could cause slips/falls or any other safety risks, and later removed.
  • Report any health, safety and /or sanitation concerns to Housekeeping Director, including reporting any apartment repairs or conditions that need attention by other departments.
  • Monitor and remove all trash and waste from inside areas of community to designated trash cans/areas with continued monitoring throughout shift.
  • Keep work areas attractive and free of hazardous objects such as protruding mop/broom handles, and unnecessary equipment - putting all equipment away as soon as the job that requires it is finished.
  • Use all appropriate safety and protective equipment and supplies when handling hazardous waste and/or chemicals.

Responsibility Level:

Responsible to schedule Housekeeping and Laundry aids 2 weeks in advance and update time and attendance schedule as needed.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to deal tactfully and professionally at all times with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
  • Promotes a positive and friendly teamwork attitude in the execution of all duties.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and to remain calm during emergency situations.
  • Reasoning skills that include the ability to understand issues and process information for the purpose of giving and receiving feedback and instructions.
  • Ability to operate housekeeping and other service equipment and display basic skills with personal computer, scanner, copier, fax machine, email, and Microsoft Office
  • Compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents' rights.
  • Two years of work experience in the industry
  • Background clearances as required by government regulations

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Able to be mobile and perform the physical requirements of the job to include: bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and repetitive motions
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the work day
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs. and push up to 40 lbs., including carts as necessary
  • Able to communicate orally, read, comprehend, and write English fluently
  • Able to understand, remember and follow basic instructions and guidelines and perform basic calculations
  • Walking up to 5 miles per shift
  • Must possess valid First Aid Certifications and, according to state regulations, may need to possess current CPR.
  • Must have or be open to attaining COVID Vaccinations
