Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Chief Probation Case Manager. Makes field contacts with probationers to monitor compliance with court orders.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Conducts unscheduled visits with clients at their workplace, home, or, counseling/treatment center to ensure compliance with probationary terms specified by judicial order. Most of these visits are conducted during evening/night/weekend.
• Ensures compliance with curfew times and administers preliminary breath tests as indicated.
• Operates a motor vehicle and drives throughout Calhoun, Branch, and Barry counties to make contacts with clients as necessary.
• Responds to client questions regarding the terms of probation, behavioral alternatives to behaviors which constitute probation violations, and consequences of violations as necessary.
• Completes contact logs, and reports on field contacts and maintains vehicle as appropriate.
• Appears in court as necessary to provide testimony regarding field contacts and/or probation violations.

Qualifications

• An Associates degree or equivalent in criminal justice, psychology, or a related field.
• Six months to one year of experience in criminal justice, substance abuse counseling, or closely related social science field. A high level of confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
