- A minimum of three years of proven experience in wholesale grocery buying, with a strong preference for backgrounds in sizable retail or wholesale environments
- Comprehensive knowledge of the grocery sector, including market trends, pricing tactics, and supply chain logistics and vendor contacts
- Exceptional negotiation and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering supplier relationships and collaborating effectively with internal teams and vendors
- Proficient in data analysis and market trend evaluation to inform strategic purchasing decisions
- Outstanding organizational capabilities, able to manage numerous projects and deadlines efficiently
- A bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a relevant field is desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and implement purchasing strategies for various grocery segments to assure excellence, cost-efficiency, and supplier reliability
- Analyze market trends and conduct competitive analyses to pinpoint opportunities for negotiation and innovative sourcing
- Forge and nurture lasting relationships with suppliers, while exploring new avenues for partnerships and sourcing
- Collaborate with merchandising and inventory management teams to guarantee product accessibility, prompt delivery, and optimal stock levels
- Evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with our quality standards and delivery schedules
- Regularly assess product range and performance, adjusting buying approaches as needed
- Partner with marketing and sales departments to identify promotional opportunities and spearhead product introductions
