Position: Character Development Specialist

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady is seeking someone to provide character development and leadership programing. The right candidate for this position will have experience working with youth and implementing programing based on improving self-esteem, developing leadership skills, teaching mindfulness, and creating engaging programs centered around positive character trait development. It’s the Character Development Specialist’s responsibility to prepare lesson plans, activities, and to create a positive, fun, and safe environment.

The candidates for this position should be a dynamic, enthusiastic, and experienced professional with impressive leadership ability who enjoys working with youth from ages 6 through 18. This position is a 4-week program, July 8th- August 2nd, from 8am-3pm. This is a temporary position, 35 hours a week. There will be mandatory training prior to July 8th.

Running character and leadership based lessons that will engage and teach youth.

Creating and implementing age appropriate lesson plans that are problem based. (middle and high school aged lesson plans)

Maintaining facilities, equipment, and supplies.

Providing youth with feedback and guidance.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years olds

Have experience in the related field.

Ability to provide a safe, fun, and creative environment for youth

Have the ability to communicate positively with diverse age groups.

Experience working with youth preferred
