Youth Recreation Leader - Summer Position - Illinois Valley Club (Bilingual a Plus!)

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley is to provide year-round positive, fun and safe places for all youth, helping them build self-esteem and develop skills necessary to make right choices, becoming responsible and productive citizens.

Summer Program Youth Recreation Staff - Must be available Monday - Friday between 7:45am - 5:15pm for our Summer Club programming. (4 hour shift)

Basic Job Duties:
Provide a fun, positive and safe place for youth grades K-12. Be an enthusiastic role model that helps to shape a great future. Boys & Girls Club strives to give youth the tools they need to make the right choices in all areas of their life, from healthy eating to physical fitness, and good sportsmanship to academic success. The Youth Recreational Leader supervises kids in various program areas of the Club while encouraging good character and leadership. Areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Academic Support (homework help, STEAM activities, reading, and more!)
  • Games room (cards, chess, board games, air hockey - social recreation)
  • Field games
  • Playground
  • Arts and crafts
  • Field trips and community service activities
  • Health and wellness (socio-emotional wellness activities)

This is a physical job, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and noise levels.

Helpful Skills/Qualities:

  • Passion for helping kids succeed in all areas of life
  • Healthy energy to keep pace with kids
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to supervise and engage youth between the ages of 6-18
  • Ability to work closely with other staff
  • Bilingual abilities a plus

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Preferred One-year experience working with young children (K-5th grade, Teen), data entry and customer service experience preferred.
  • Physical: This is a physical job, indoors and outdoors in high noise level situations. This position requires that you be on your feet at the front entrance for most of your shift.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and enthusiastic, energetic attitude
  • Maintain a positive, fun and safe demeanor at all times
