What do we do?

Our Mission at APC is to help patients seeking relief from pain, numbness, and tingling sensations that are often related to neuropathic pain or neuropathy, among many other forms of chronic pain. The surgery center performs pain management related procedures including injections and open surgical cases with general anesthesia.

Our clinical multidisciplinary approach to care delivers the correct intervention to each and every patient; each and every time. Our treatments are focused on improving functionality and restoring a more meaningful lifestyle. APC is seeking an individual who is wanting to learn, develop, and grow as a Registered Nurse in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting.

What will you do?

This Registered Nurse position works in in a hybrid role providing a mix of in-office clinical care and remote support performed from home. Clinical care includes the administration of intrathecal medications with provider oversight. Remote functions serve as an extension of the in office clinical care through collaborative care and a case management model where assessment, monitoring and support is provided to intrathecal pump patients telephonically, by the nurse.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Document patient care in accordance with facility policy/procedures and state standards.

· Manage care for patients with implantable pain pumps during intervals between office visits and medical refills. Answer patient questions and follow-up on patient concerns, track their care, and symptom management.

· Support overall well-being of patient by maintaining consistent contact with providers overseeing other aspects of patient care to ensure best patient outcome.

· Monitor and timely prompts for order of additional medication needed for upcoming implantable pump refills. Track inventory with all appropriate documentation required for controlled substances.

· Monitor dosage of intrathecal pumps, document medication changes, and asses patient responses. Track and document patient concerns regarding medication being dispensed from the implantable pump. Follow all guidelines or escalation of care concerns with prescribing physician.

· Facilitate scheduling of patients with implantable pumps for services throughout the organization’s entities while balancing departmental resources, utilization requirements, and addressing physician/patient requests or needs.

· Responsible to ensure all actions taken and care provided is in compliance with state and federal code and that all necessary patient care is rendered as appropriate. Assure timely and thorough completion of documentation, assist with policy development, or updating as requested.

· Review patient charts and assess documented plan of care for application of consistent best care practices. Assess current therapies and treatments provided to patients. Recommend alternative or additional services that may support better patient outcomes or overall addresses patient concerns.

· Learn and perform pump refill procedure and programming with direct provider oversight.

What qualifications do you need?
