LABORATORY TECHNICIAN I

AgSource is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Laboratory Technician I in our water and environmental testing department at the Marshfield, WI location. The successful candidate will accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses according to approved standard operating procedures (SOP) and quality control guidelines. Also, to ensure testing services are conducted within anticipated laboratory turn-times.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Calibrate basic laboratory instrumentation according to laboratory SOP.
  • Prepare samples and execute analysis with a high degree of accuracy to ensure quality results.
  • Thoroughly complete appropriate documentation including calibration logs, solution logs, scoop / bench sheets, reports of analysis and corrective action forms.
  • Report results of analysis in a timely manner according to standard laboratory turn-times.
  • Perform and monitor quality control checks for designated tests to ensure they fall within acceptable thresholds. Assess corrective action steps for failing or inconsistent quality control checks and report to immediate supervisor.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures such as media/solution preparation, cleaning of labware and laboratory workspaces, monitor and maintain supply inventory for designated tests.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 0 to 2 years laboratory experience.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail orientated nature.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Scheduling flexibility and ability to work overtime as needed based on workflow and deadlines.
  • Willingness to grow and develop both personally and professionally.
