Job Description:
The Employment Consultant is a coaching position assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental needs, by conducting assessments, providing job development, job placement and job coaching. The Employment Consultant II will primarily be assisting High School Students by supporting them in learning the importance of job skills as they intern at community jobs in coordination with Project Search. Working side by side with the employment site and School District 51 employees by building individual plans for the individuals that are interning. The goal is to work with individuals who want or have obtained community employment with building and maintaining job skills. The Employment Consultant provides ongoing support to individuals and employers after the individual has mastered the job skills and is able to perform the job independently.
Requirements:
Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.
Facilitates integration into the workplace in by assisting individuals to meet employer standards and expectations, develop job skills and appropriate work behavior/attitudes and gain transportation skills.
Monitors and documents individual’s progress through periodic worksite visits.
Facilitates individual acceptance into the workplace by meeting co-workers and encouraging their support.
Focus on activities needed to sustain paid work. Assists individuals in adjusting to the work environment, trains individuals in job related tasks and job expectations, works alongside individual and supports individuals as they learn and carry out tasks.
Assures that individuals have the skills required to successfully complete their tasks.
Ensures services and supports are provided as specified in the Individuals Service Plan.
Learns job tasks to employer standards.
Provides 1:1 support to individuals requiring intensive skills training, work orientation and/or developing work behaviors.
Employs training and reinforcement strategies of sequencing, modeling and reinforcement to maximize individual attainment of skills Coordinates activities with outside agencies and completes third party documentation.
Analyzes the local job market for individuals
Maintains caseload of job applicants and determines the occupational interests of individuals on the caseload. Assists individuals in completing employment applications (online/paper). Assist individuals in developing resumes, identifying references, and writing cover letters.
Preferably has experience working with IDD population for 3 years.
For insurance purposes, must be 21 years of age or older.
Must be able to legally drive in the State of Colorado, and have a valid drivers license.
