We live by our core values to provide the best for our students, including a strong academic foundation with individualized attention, all emanating from Jewish values.The Kindergarten through twelfth-grade school counselor will be a uniquely qualified and educationally certified individual who will assist the students in their learning and the teachers with their teaching. This person will apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. The school psychologist will partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Provide confidential short-term individual and group counseling services to students struggling with academic, developmental, emotional, and/or behavioral issuesProvide brief counseling to parents in need of guidance and supportConsult with parents and outside service provider(s) to better support studentsProvide resources to families, teachers, and administration on the development of the whole childParticipate on the Student Services team to assist teachers to support all students bestProvide staff training to support and assist with behavior management, emotional regulation, and general well-beingWork in classrooms, small groups, and with individual students in the areas of friendships, social skills, conflict resolution, self-control, impulse control, anger management, communication, personal safety, coping skills, grief and loss support.Collaboratively develop intervention plans and recommend strategies together with the teaching teams.Plan and facilitate social-emotional and mental health programming school-wide.Communicate with families about initiatives and pertinent issues affecting the communityPlan and deliver crisis intervention when neededMaintain and uphold confidentiality with student and family interactions A master’s degree or higher in School Counseling or Social Work is preferred.
