LARC is Hiring a Vocational Area Manager- Woodshop Near Fort Myers, FL

SUMMARY: Responsible for the operation of the Woodshop vocational work area and Laser Engraving LAB to ensure production and worker safety. Provides direct oversight to the LARC Woodshop and Laser Engraving Programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

PRODUCTION AND CLIENT RELATED TASKS:

Works directly with Woodshop and Laser Engraving customers to take in orders and determine project completion dates for filling orders.

Responsible to develop and configure plans for development of products ordered by customers.

Works with Director of ADT Services to develop product prices, and negotiates prices as needed with Woodshop and Laser Engraving customers.

Records and collects business customer data.

Generates and submits customer invoices that include contact information such as customer name, address, phone, email address as applicable to Accounting.

Trains and supervises staff and client labor and production.

Works directly with Woodshop staff and consumers to teach woodworking and laser engraving skills.

Responsible for creating and developing jigs, patterns and templates as needed to increase product line and opportunities for Woodshop and Laser Engraving customers.

Responsible for ensuring quality control of products assembled or produced to ensure products sold are not defective and are of excellent quality.

Responsible for ensuring machinery, guards and tools are maintained in a manner to ensure safety of all involved.

Responsible for purchasing lumber and necessary supplies for both the Woodshop and the Laser Engraving LAB.

Records and collects client data. Works with assigned campus Program Managers with regard to client programs and goals and required documentation of such goals.

Attends meetings as required to include client IP meetings as requested.

Provides documentation with regard to client accidents, incidents, health status, and behavioral issues and submits to Program Managers assigned for effective response to issues.

Works with Program Managers to address issues and handle client disciplinary needs as applicable.

Manages and secures client food service snacks that are maintained in the program area, tracks sales using tracking sheets provided and submits cash and tracking sheets to Accounting as required.

Facilitates LAB classes as scheduled and/or requested. Works with LAB Coordinator to address any issues that arise with LAB classes.

Conducts routine and ongoing safety training with staff and consumers. Ensures the facilitation and implementation of twice daily Safety Meetings per APD requirements. Documents and maintains attendance of such on Safety Meeting sign in sheets.

Ensures all staff and clients follow dress code to include wearing steel toed shoes at all times when working in the Woodshop.

Ensures that clients are wearing proper safety equipment related to machinery use as applicable i.e., goggles, earphones etc.…

Ensures staff and clients are following COVID Safety protocols designated by LARC as long as applicable to include proper wearing of face masks, social distancing, hand washing, providing reminders for individuals not to touch face or others throughout the day.

Ensures that machinery is locked down per safety protocols, and that when machinery is being utilized that staff are on the floor supervising the operation of machinery in use.

Ensures Woodshop environment is maintained to ensure safety of all involved to include completion of all COVID related daily cleaning procedures until no longer applicable.

MARKETING TASKS:

Ensures quality customer relations.

Responsible for marketing the Woodshop and Laser Engraving LAB to increase community awareness of Woodshop and Laser Engraving services.

Responsible for maintaining, developing and increasing an expanded customer base to increase overall Woodshop and Laser Engraving sales.

Responsible for working directly with Woodshop and Laser Engraving staffing team to develop new products and market these products as they are developed to increase Woodshop and Laser Engraving sales.

OTHER DUTIES:

Completes required training per company timelines as directed.

Participates in LARC's Health and Safety Committee meetings as requested or assigns a designee as needed to attend.

Works with LARC as a whole as needed for various projects that can be created by and in the Woodshop.

Works with Director of ADT Services and LARC as a whole to expand and grow the Woodshop and Laser Engraving services and product line.

Participates in daily/weekly rotation of "Break Duty/Bus Duty."

Participates in various sub-committees as requested by the Director of ADT Services i.e., LARC’s Dance Committee, Game Nights or other sub-committees requested.

Responsible to ensure documentation of vehicle use and maintenance needs is completed per company policy for related vehicles and submits documentation of such per company timelines.

Required to drive a LARC vehicle or own vehicle for LARC errands, deliveries or outings with clients.

Required to hold forklift certification for use of forklift with loading and unloading materials.

Performs related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages employees in the vocational area. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Prefer an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and two years of verifiable experience working directly with recipients with developmentally disabilities or related experience. Must have a high school diploma or GED and one year direct, care-related experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

A valid Florida driver's license is required. Proof of automobile insurance and Florida automobile registration is required if private vehicle is used for LARC business.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Experience working in a woodshop, with power tools and woodworking machinery necessary. Other skills helpful and/or necessary for this position are an industrial background, management skills, special education skills, and human services experience.

Must be able to pass a local law enforcement and level II background screening.
