Panhandle Health District in Sandpoint, Idaho is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Representative 2 for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

As a WIC Customer Service Representative 2 (CSR2) at Panhandle Health District, you will perform essential paraprofessional clinical duties that support the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. The CSR2 will work to establish and maintain accurate records, provide health and community program information to clients, and guide them through various health and community programs. This position will offer personalized nutrition counseling based on lab results and growth measurements. Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach are essential as you interact with diverse populations, ensuring they receive the support and information they need. This role is pivotal in promoting public health and nutrition within the community, with continuous learning and community outreach as important aspects of the position.

Duties include:

• Interviews and develops a professional rapport with clients to obtain detailed personal data including health and dietary information to tailor visits to priority needs.
• Assign appropriate supplemental nutrition packages to clientele.
• Documentation of information in appropriate programs.
• Refers to other appropriate programs per client need.
• Provides nutrition counseling based on individual needs.
• Develops and maintains a strong knowledge base of WIC food packages, referral programs, formulary, and breastfeeding promotion activities.
• Obtains lab samples, plots growth measurements and interprets results accurately to counsel clients according to the procedure.
• Schedules clinic appointments, answers phone calls & performs receptionist duties as required.
• Develops and maintains familiarity with both PHD and WIC policy and procedures.
• Engage in both required and elective education offerings to expand the knowledge base on PHD and WIC topics: breastfeeding, nutrition, community program use, outreach, etc. (i.e., WICWorks, quarterly staff education retreats, PHD staff education requirements).
• Participates in outreach activities for both WIC and PHD to both home and neighborhood communities of northern Idaho.

Qualifications and Proficiencies:·

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Idaho driver's license
• 1-year customer service experience (preferred)
• Skilled in written and oral communications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, MS Teams, and Excel.
• Comfortable learning new computer systems such as WISPr, etc.
• Experience with conducting phone and face-to-face interactions
• Previous participation in the WIC program or experience breastfeeding is a plus
• Complete the online WIC training within six (6) months of employment
• Willingness to participate in ongoing education and training opportunities related to WIC, nutrition, and public health
• Able to develop efficiency and time management practices to adhere to scheduling expectations and guidelines to optimize work balance
• National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (IS)100, 700 and Public Health Ready 101 within six (6) months of employment

• Engage in the following movements: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, and writing and repetitive motions.
• To move objects, exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.
• Hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
• Visual ability must be sufficient to read typewritten documents, computer screens, and drive a car
