Plancorp is Hiring a Client Development Manager Near St. Louis, MO

Plancorp is seeking a Client Development Manager to support our ability to meaningfully connect with prospective clients from growth channels like digital marketing and strategic partnerships. This position is based on-site in our St. Louis office, with hybrid work-from-home scheduling possible depending on your preferences and team or project needs.

The Client Development Manager would be fluent in both financial planning and sales principles with a strong ability to communicate complex topics in a way that is understandable and drives action. The ideal candidate may have a background in sales or financial advising and has a high sense of urgency and organization to progress multiple prospects through an evolving pipeline.

Sociable but knowledgeable, this individual could speak with confidence about the unique financial planning opportunities available to high-net-worth individuals and the Plancorp client experience.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Brand & Marketing, the Client Development Manager’s main responsibility is to proactively engage with qualified leads to establish connection, consideration, and strong intent to onboard as a client. Core responsibilities include:

  • Prospect Engagement/Lead Nurture You will be the first person many of our prospective clients meet after engaging with our web content, plan analysis tool, or simply a contact form. We’d like to arm you with resources and perspectives to enhance your natural sales ability, finding our best chance to connect with ideal clients and build consideration to become a client. 
  • Process & Tracking We understand there is an art and science to sales. If engagement is the art, the processes, tools, and experimentation mindset are the science. Someone successful in this position would be comfortable following a process consistently as well as identifying strategic opportunities to test changes to drive better results. 
  • Teamwork This position sits squarely between two critical functions of our business. The engine that brings in qualified leads and the team that has the wisdom to serve them well for decades. We are looking for someone to bring their sales experience into our organization as well as learn from and work with their peers.
  • Subject Matter Expertise Our ideal clients have high expectations for our knowledge of all aspects of financial planning. We’d like to find someone to join our team and be a continual learner and communicator, sharing knowledge with prospects as well as informing great content that grows our reach further. 
  • The Plancorp Crafted Advantage In the past year we have mapped our experience and developed a set of visual models to enable meaningful prospect conversations that highlight our value and differentiate us from the market. The Client Development Manager would spend time absorbing this framework and the successful candidate would eventually become an evangelist of this model both with prospective clients and internal stakeholders.

What You Bring:

  • 5 years of related experience in financial planning/advising. 
  • Ideally you have already obtained your CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation or are actively working toward that certification.
  • 3 years of experience in business development or sales
  • 2 years of experience with a CRM, preferably Salesforce.
  • Strong technology and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with prospective clients virtually and in person.
  • A B.S. in Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
