New England Institute of Technology is Hiring a Residence Life GA Near East Greenwich, RI

General Description of Position
New England Institute of Technology (NEIT), a non-profit, technical university in East Greenwich, RI has an exciting and unique opportunity for a graduate student to work with other residence life professionals to manage the university’s residence hall.

The Residence Hall Graduate Assistant (RHGA) is a part-time (20 hours per week), live-in position. The RHGA will work with the Director of Residence Life and Hall Director to promote a supportive community in the residence hall that is conducive to academic achievement and personal growth. The RHGA contributes to activities and programs designed to strengthen the overall Residence Life program and to support student retention efforts. The RHGA is supervised by the Director of Residence Life.

Position Responsibilities
1. Assist the professional staff as needed in the overall management of the residence hall, including coordinating room changes, mediating roommate conflicts, counseling individual students, conducting health and safety inspections, tracking maintenance requests, enforcing university policy, and responding to crisis situations.

2. Assist with the supervision of up to 13 Resident Assistants (RAs).

3. Assist with programs and activities for the residence hall. Work with the staff to develop a program vision, implement quality programs, and track programming efforts.

4. Serve in the professional staff on-call rotation, responding to and managing any student crises and emergencies.

5. Advise the Hall Council with the Hall Director

6. Assist with conduct cases as determined by the Director.

7. Assist with the openings and closings of the residence hall at the start and end of major break periods, including the management of students during the breaks between quarters.

8. Participate in RA training, staff selection, periodic in-service meetings, and other RA staff development and recognition efforts.

9. Supervise approximately 15 Desk Assistants (DAs) and Mail Assistants (MAs).

10. Attend weekly professional staff meetings, building staff meetings, and individual meetings with supervisor.

11. Assist with other departmental projects and special initiatives as needed.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, a candidate should:

· Be a matriculated graduate student. Enrollment in a College Student Personnel, Counseling, or Higher Education Administration program preferred.

· Be willing to work evenings and weekends on a rotating basis.

· Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.

· Possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

This position comes with a one-bedroom apartment in the residence hall with a patio and a private entrance, meal plan worth $1,780 per quarter, dedicated office space, and a weekly stipend.
