Atlanta BeltLine is Hiring an Internship Program Near Atlanta, GA

The Atlanta BeltLine is the largest revitalization effort in the history of Atlanta, encompassing almost 20 percent of the city. It features 22 miles of light-rail streetcar transit, several crosstown streetcar transit line extensions to serve the city’s inner core, 33 miles of paved urban trails, over 1,300 acres of new parkland, 46 miles of streetscapes and intersection improvements, one of the South’s largest installations of public art, brownfield reclamation, and the creation of 5,600 affordable housing units and 30,000 jobs in the neighborhoods surrounding the underutilized and abandoned railroad corridor. In addition, ABI is committed to advancing equity and inclusion within the organization, along the corridor, and throughout all programs and projects.

Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. is seeking to hire three (3) Interns to provide research, administrative, and general support to the ABI team. Interns will have the opportunity to work in one of the following departments:

  • Economic Development
  • Government Affairs
  • Housing Policy and Development
  • Planning, Engagement, and Art

This is an opportunity to gain invaluable access and experience within one of the country’s most transformative economic development projects.

Our intern positions seeks to provide temporary, part-time work experience. We are seeking candidates who can commit to the program for the Summer 2024 semester. Work schedules will be set upon hiring and are flexible to accommodate class schedules or other employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with research and data analysis in assigned department(s).
  • Support departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct administrative tasks and document preparation.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas.
  • Engage with community stakeholders and partners as needed.
  • Attend site and property visits with ABI staff to observe construction happening.
  • Draft papers and other communications supporting project efforts as requested.
  • Promote the Vision, Mission and Core Values of ABI while fostering a collegial work environment.

About you

The ideal candidate is a quick learner who demonstrates communications and technical skills and possesses the following skills:

  • Demonstrate a passion for Economic Development, Government Affairs, Housing Policy and Development, or Planning, Engagement, and Art.
  • Understanding of the impacts of institutional and systemic barriers on marginalized communities and a commitment to integrating equity and inclusion throughout all facets of your work.
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program or Master’s degree program in business, economics, real estate, urban planning, development, or related field.
  • Highly organized with good time-management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders and constituents in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess excellent research, writing, communications and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to plan work and meet deadlines.
