Aroostook Home Health Services is Hiring a Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Near , ME

Description:

Aroostook Home Health Services is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Professional in the Caribou, ME area. AHHS is a non-profit organization offering various home health care services since 1983.

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Behavioral Health Professional are to provide services for persons with developmental delays that focus primarily upon social, behavioral and functional skills as well as independent living skills.

Essential Functions:

1. Provide services as outlined in the Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) to increase skill development and adaptive behaviors including but not limited to the following:

  • Activities of Daily Living
  • Social Skills
  • Communication Skills
  • Safety Awareness
  • Behavior Modification
  • Coping Skills
  • Community Integration

2. Provide documentation of services to include:

  • Child’s name
  • Date of Service
  • Duration (hours of service)
  • Short-term goals and objective the child worked on
  • Services used to address goals
  • Progress towards goals
  • Barriers to goal achievement
  • Variations in services from the ITP
  • Incidents
  • Signature and credentials for each visit note

3. Serve as a valuable member of the Interdisciplinary Team to:

  • Assist in the development/ revision of the ITP
  • Provide feedback related to goal progression
  • Assist in identifying barriers to care
  • Assist parents/ families in understanding child behavior
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team
  • Comply with mandatory reporting practices
  • Participate in monthly supervision with the Child Services Coordinator

4. Maintain compliance with the AHHS safety policies and procedures:

  • Familiarize yourself with the safety policies and procedures
  • Utilize the appropriate safety equipment
  • Receive TB testing annually
  • Follow universal precautions when providing client care

5. Carry out AHHS’ policies and procedures in the following areas:

  • Complete with accuracy all required paperwork, records and reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • Attend scheduled meeting to remain current on policies and protocols and upgrade skills

COVID-19 considerations:
As a licensed home health care agency, AHHS is subject to the vaccine mandate and CDC guidelines for masking and other PPE requirements.

Requirements:

Education, Skills, and Experience Required:

High School diploma or equivalent required

Provisional Certification as a Behavioral Health Professional (must successfully complete Behavioral Health Professional Curriculum within 1 year of hire)

First Aid/ CPR certification

Experience working with children with disabilities preferred

Must be able to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions

Must be able to demonstrate competency in skills needed to care for children with intellectual disabilities and autism

Must be able to work independently and to organize work efficiently

Must be able to maintain client confidentiality

Must be able to communicate and cooperate effectively

Must have maturity to deal effectively with the position requirements
