Planet Networks is Hiring a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician Near Newton, NJ
We are looking for a Fiber Optic Splicing Engineer to support Planet Network's expanding operations. You will be responsible for shingle and mass fusion fiber splicing; preparation, installation, testing and repair of fiber optic cable.
What You'll Do
- Perform cable installation, construction, maintenance, and repair works
- Possess knowledge in all types of splicing activity, fiber and safety test equipment and use of all types of fiber construction equipment
- Locate and repair faults to maintain existing network without causing signal failure interruptions.
- Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for the fiber network
- Confirm accurate cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs, and routers
- Review site surveys, conditions discrepancy reports, design drawings, technical manuals for fiber installation feasibility
- Understand construction prints and splice schematics
- Read and interpret existing fiber records, on maps or in the field
- Install and dress fiber optic cabling within splice enclosures and various fiber termination panels (indoor and outdoor)
