Talent Buying Specialist
MISSION
Assist the execution of our talent buying function for assigned events and/or lineup segments in planning and executing festivals at sea (or land) with goal of providing world class experience for guests and artists and their teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES
EVENT
o Each specialist is assigned ownership of 4-6 events
o Lead talent conversations in internal and external Event Huddles
o Build the strategy with the Sr. Manger - Talent Buying for each event lineup ensuring adequate balance of acts for the events/venues and that the curation of the lineup matches the event vision—note that in some cases this will be done without any outside influences but in some cases, this will need to be done in coordination with the host artist management team or partner requiring balancing advocacy for the event vision and diplomacy for the relationships.
o Negotiate talent contracts ensuring best in class industry terms and modifying standard agency contracts to fit the nature of the events and venues.
o Communicate the lineup strategy for each event to the launch team and keep the relevant parties apprised of the lineup status as it is a key component of launch
o Collaborate with Sixthman marketing to ensure support artist contracts are shown to hold a commitment to fully marketing the event
o Coordinate post-launch artist announcements with Talent Relations and Event Teams to maximize impact of artists
o Build a relationship with the artist managers in addition to their agents so that artists want to return on events
o Work with Talent Relations and Production to identify schedule strategy once event is confirmed
o Proactively communicate status of line-ups with relevant internal Sixthman teams
o Manage talent cabins within budget and notify Director - Talent Buying and finance of any required changes and any recommendations to potentially go over budget on talent spend of cabins for events that are in revenue management
o Encourage agent and manager connection with the Sixthman team
o Serve as primary contact for artist management during contracting process and for any issues and opportunities that arise related to the event.
o Evaluate responses to offers and make recommendations as needed to help convert passed offers to confirmed offers (with creativity beyond just higher budgets)
DEPARTMENT
o Assist the Director, Sr. Manager(s) and Manager(s) - Talent Buying in the development of overall artist strategy and talent budgets for events with the overall goal of maximizing the impact for the dollars spent and ensuring distinct talent lanes for the various events that might have overlap.
o Work with internal teams to build materials that showcase the value of our events to agents and managers.
o Identify and engage talent that would be appropriate for Sixthman events including emerging talent and build and maintain a comprehensive talent database
o Serve on an internal team that helps build new Sixthman festivals
o Assist the Contracts Department in evaluating contracts for financial and cabin/room accuracy and edit, as necessary, all support artist contracts. and distribute to all relevant Sixthman teams.
EVENT EXECUTION
o The Talent Buying Specialist role will sail on assigned events as needed, or about 2-4 events per calendar year as the position primarily serves as Shoreside support
o Attend several of Sixthman’s festivals annually and perform various duties onsite in an Artist / Talent leadership capacity with goal of providing world class experience to guests, artists and partners.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
o Attend relevant industry events, conferences or festivals to build relationships and to monitor best practices and make appropriate recommendations to keep Sixthman on the leading edge of industry.
o Proactively build a relationship with the agency community, visiting key agencies throughout the year to lay the foundation for future offers.
o Additional projects and duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
· 3 years of experience preferred, music, entertainment industry background a plus
· Experience with social media, video production, and Adobe programs skillset a plus
· Must have good verbal, written and interpersonal skills
· Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
· Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask
· Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes or challenges
· Computer proficiency (Email, Word, Google, and strong Excel skills)
DISCUSSIONS YOU LEAD
Responsible for leading conversations with Artist Agents, Management, Artists, Production as needed, Crew, etc. You serve as the primary interface with talent focusing on smooth processes and tangible impact.
