Rowan College of South Jersey is Hiring a Program Director, Medical Laboratory Technology Near Sewell, NJ

This is a full-time 10-month position, with Faculty rank, in the Division of Nursing and Health Professions responsible for all aspects of the Medical Laboratory Technology program and future programs as they pertain to the entry level programs on both the Gloucester and Cumberland campuses. The Program Director is responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of contemporary curricula, as well as coordination of contemporary resources for student instruction. In addition to maintaining professional standards as identified in accreditation criteria, the Program Director will serve the College and the Division with service in committees and recruitment activities. Due to the nature of the Medical Laboratory Technology profession and accreditation requirements, teaching in the classroom will comprise 50% of the 35-hour work week. Administration of the program, including curriculum coordination and course schedules, will comprise the remaining 50% of the 35-hour work week. The Program Director is responsible for engaging in accreditation activities, maintaining current accreditation standards and responsible for development and execution of all accreditation related requirements.

Travel will be required, as this position will work on both the Gloucester and Cumberland Campuses.

* Initiates and encourages the cooperation and supervision of staff and instructors in program assessment, long range planning, program activities, admission and marketing initiatives, and participation in College-wide endeavors.

* Coordinates the curriculum and course schedules with division administration.

* Develops new curriculum and revisions to align with contemporary Professional standards.

* Assures continued compliance of the program with criteria for accreditation of appropriate external accrediting agencies including Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

* Complies with accreditation standards and provides notification of any substantive changes within the program or any change in accreditation status to College administration and the appropriate agencies.

* Develops, implements, and evaluates new programs, as identified by industry demand.

* Provides first-level resolution for program staff and student concerns.

* Establishes clinical sites and experiences to align with course and end of program student learning outcomes.

* Makes clinical site visits to evaluate staff, adjunct instructors and maintains clinical relationships.

* Engages and coordinates the efforts of an Advisory Board for the Medical Laboratory Technology profession. Creates the advisory committee role, develops member list and agendas. Leads advisory meetings once each semester.

* Monitors and updates program-specific web page content and sends updates to Instructional Technology personnel.

* Works collaboratively with College personnel, such as student advisors, recruiters, laboratory staff.

* Communicates and disseminates information received from administration to members of the program.

* Communicates program needs (including budgetary) to Division administrators.

* Coordinates periodic program review, annual reports, and assessment of student learning, in accordance with accreditation standards and College policies.

* Coordinates outreach with development and maintenance of relationships with industry-related personnel and employers; participates in professional organizations promoting advancement of the Medical Laboratory Technology Program.

* Submits and maintains clinical contract requirements regarding Criminal History Background checks, Health and CPR.

* Recommends adjunct faculty to the Dean, chairs search committees for new program faculty members (full- and part-time) and coordinates respective orientation to the program.

* Evaluates adjunct faculty members and makes recommendations for renewal of contracts.

* Teaches courses as 50% of workload.

* Maintains professional expertise and/or professional proficiencies: Pursues professional development; Remains current in the professional standards.

* Maintains required professional credentials, licensing, and continuing education hours, engage in a minimum of 36 hours of documented continuing professional development every 3 years

* Participates in a reasonable number of Divisional and College activities and committees.

* Performs other duties, as assigned.

* Earned Master's degree from an accredited Institution in applicable field of study

* ASCP?BOC or ASCP-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist

* Documented 5 years of employment in Medical Laboratory setting

* Minimum of three years of teaching experience; including working knowledge of education methods

* Demonstrated leadership and teaching experience

* Current NAACLS accreditation standards and certification procedures.

* Experience with data collection, trending outcomes

* Proficiency with technology & application software.

* Utilization of innovative teaching methods incorporating technology, including on-line resources

* Commitment to continuous improvement of processes, programs, and services

* Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours to meet department and College needs

* Ability to travel, as needed, for College, accreditation, and clinical needs

* Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings.

* Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

* Earned Doctorate degree from an accredited Institution in applicable field of study

* Previous experience providing clinical supervision and administrative leadership within a College/University

* Experience with accreditation included but not limited to writing self-studies, site visits, peer evaluator for nationally recognized agencies

* Experience in the community college setting
