ECOTONE is Hiring a Water Resources Engineer I/II Near Forest Hill, MD

Summary:

This opportunity offers a platform for professional growth, where you will be responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will work closely with the project manager, contributing to research, development, calculations, design, and delivery. Your application of engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects of varying size and complexity will be crucial. Leveraging your technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships will play a key role in assisting in the execution and evaluation of project designs. The role also includes mentoring, training, reviewing the work of junior engineering staff, and providing constructive feedback to foster their professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execution: Complete assigned work within the provided schedule and hours. Develop project specifications and discipline-specific engineering project elements such as reports, designs, and plans.
  • Coordination: Aid in the coordination and productivity of project team members, providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. Perform quality control reviews of discipline-specific engineering project elements and deliverables.
  • Management: Assist with planning and coordinating schedules, hours, and distribution of work within the discipline.
  • and Analysis: Conduct technical design for various water resources transportation projects, including stormwater management, drainage design, erosion and sediment control design, and stream restoration designs.
  • and Hydraulic Studies: Lead hydrology and hydraulics studies/modeling and analysis for culverts, drainage systems, bridges, streams, watershed studies, and other floodplain studies.
  • Assurance: Perform quality assurance and quality reviews of design plans, specifications, and estimates. Review work performed by other engineers and consultants, including QA/QC.
  • Guide and assist with training and supervising new engineers or interns.
  • Communication: Communicate with internal and external clients to ensure an effective water resources design development process.
  • Work: Occasionally travel to other offices and project sites as needed. Perform field investigations, inspections, and data collection for project sites.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.

• Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in water resources design and engineering.

• Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Maryland.

• Experience with MDOT, VDOT, and PennDOT projects preferred.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and CADD for developing 3D models and construction plans.

• Experience with GIS software, ArcGIS, and GPS units.

• Strong proficiency in project management, time management, and independent progression of design tasks.

• Experience with stormwater management, erosion and sediment control design, ecological restoration, stream/wetland mitigation.

• Understanding of local, state, and federal permit requirements, particularly Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) regulations.
