The Maryland Food Bank is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization dedicated to feeding people, strengthening communities, and ending hunger for more Marylanders.. We have an extensive network of community and organizational partners across the state that distribute food to the Marylanders who need us.
We supply the food to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and faith-based organizations that serve food-insecure Marylanders. We supplement this work with outreach programs that provide direct food assistance, educate the public on the importance of good nutrition, and fight hunger through innovative means.

In this role the employee receives food shipments, fills out appropriate paperwork and ensures correctness of delivery. The employee stages or stores the food, depending upon the source. Additionally, outgoing shipments are “picked” and “pick tickets” with accurate counts are created. Assists in inventory cycle counts and with loading and unloading food orders.
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: At least 1 year of recent experience in a warehouse environment is required. The ability to read, write and speak English is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
80% Manual Labor : Move food product by lifting up to 50 pounds and push/pull pallets weighing up to 2k pounds to load and unload orders and move product to appropriate storage areas. Pick orders for partners.
20% Inventory: Assist in ongoing cycle counts, staging inventory in accordance with FIFO system

The employee will carry out the job duties in/around a warehouse environment which will have greatly fluctuating noise and temperature conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally pushes/pulls manual pallet jacks containing up to 2,000 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Non-Essential Functions
The following are non-essential functions of the position:
· Assist in cleaning within the warehouse, per the daily cleaning list
· Assist in sorting salvage, including produce, as assigned
· Perform other duties as requested.
