The AWS Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, design, development, and deployment of cloud applications and infrastructure. This role involves leading the integration of cloud-based systems to meet specific business requirements, ensuring a seamless end-to-end cloud deployment experience from concept to implementation. The AWS Operations Manager will provide subject matter expertise and consult on cloud capabilities, continuously adapting new features, functions, and virtual environments.

Responsibilities:

• Big Data Platform Operations:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Big Data Platform, ensuring high performance and reliability.

• Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of DevSecOps and cloud professionals.
  • Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure high productivity and effectiveness.

• Strategic IT Operations:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize IT operations.
  • Enhance system and operations performance.
  • Mitigate risks to meet and exceed various Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

• Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business and modernization requirements.
  • Align cloud operations goals with business needs.

• Cloud Migration and Resource Management:

  • Evaluate requests for cloud migrations and resources.
  • Generate cost estimates for AWS services.

• Technical Issue Resolution:

  • Manage ticket queues, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues and end-user support requests.

• DevSecOps Implementation:

  • Work with security, development, and cloud operations teams to integrate security into development and operations processes.

• AWS Utilization:

  • Leverage AWS to enhance the scalability, reliability, and flexibility of IT infrastructure.

• Service Management:

  • Utilize ServiceNow and Jira for IT service management, incident tracking, and project management.

• System Monitoring:

  • Monitor system performance, security, and uptime.
  • Implement measures to proactively identify and address potential issues.

Requirements:

• Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar technical field.
  • Masters degree preferred.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years in cloud operations management.
  • Proven track record in overseeing enterprise business systems and cloud operations.

• Technical Expertise:

  • Expertise in AWS cloud, DevSecOps practices, ServiceNow, and Jira.
  • Experience implementing cloud systems in accordance with NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and other analytic platforms preferred.

• Certifications:

  • Cloud or other applicable AWS cloud certifications desired.

• Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills with experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

• Frameworks:

  • Experience with SAFe and ITIL or other IT service management frameworks is highly desirable.

• Federal Experience:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience driving results in the federal government sector is highly desirable.
